Phlebectomy involves making a small incision next to a visible varicose vein, and tugging the vein out with a small grasping tool. An advantage of phlebectomy is that once the vein is removed, it is immediately gone forever and you do not have to worry about that vein. However a disadvantage of phlebectomy is that you may have a small bruise as well as a small permanent scar due to the incision.
